Legendary rockers KISS have had a long-standing love affair with Australia, and they’re not quite ready to end it yet!
After four years absence, the iconic rock band today announced “ONE NIGHT WITH KISS” concerts at Brisbane’s Entertainment Centre on March 18 and Sydney’s Acer Arena on March 20. Tickets are on sale from Monday February 4.
The concerts will follow the band’s performance closing the 2008 Formula 1™ ING Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne on Sunday March 16 - and are the ONLY Australian shows.
They may have more than 90 million record sales, but there’s one simple reason why KISS are still one of the most popular bands in the world – they continue to stage the most spectacular, unforgettable and entertaining rock shows going around!
From the time the four larger-than-life figures adorned in shining black leather, metallic studs and sequins take the stage, the next two hours provides the ultimate KISS experience – there’s pyro a-go-go, pillars of flame, fire breathing, blood spewing and rocket launching guitars, plus some of rock’s greatest hits “Rock And Roll All Nite”, “I Was Made For Lovin’ You”, “Detroit Rock City”, “God Gave Rock & Roll To You”, “Shout It Out Loud” and “Love Gun”. C’mon, who can resist that!
Front-men Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley continue to run the KISS empire with a passion. Fan club expos happen at regular interviews all around the world where KISS collectibles and memorabilia is swapped, the next being a massive 2 days in Japan on February 9 & 10. After
KISS Kondoms, KISS Cycling Shorts, KISS postage stamps and KISS Kaskets (yes, even in the afterlife you can have your KISS!), there’s a brand spanking new KISS pinball machine coming May 1.
Outside of KISS, Gene and Paul remain incredibly busy. In late 2006 Paul released his second solo album, the first in 28 years, called “Live To Win”, supported by a club tour of the US (late 2006) and Australia (April) 2007. His fledgling art career is flourishing, with 14 well-attended exhibitions last year, another 14 planned this year and widespread critical acclaim for his paintings.
Meanwhile Gene continues his love of TV, and after a personal invitation from Donald Trump joined “Celebrity Apprentice” which premiered in the US on January 3 with its highest viewing audience since 2005. Let’s face it any man who can convince his fans to get buried in an official KISS coffin should definitely ride shotgun in Donald Trump’s boardroom, but Gene got up to his usual tricks which lost him favour and he was “fired” a few days ago.
In January Gene starred in a cameo role in an episode of the top rating “ Ugly Betty”, continues to produce his hit kids cartoon series “My Dad The Rock Star” (show here on Nickelodeon), while his latest reality series “Gene Simmons The Family Jewels” featuring his long-time partner and 2 children is currently screening on Foxtel and just about to start its third series in the US.
What they both still love to do however is “rock’n’roll all night and partay ev-er-ry day” and, with Australia one of their very favourite countries, they can’t wait to get back here! Strap on your seats belts folks.
